Octo Mom, Nadya Suleman, was on Oprah today. She had gone through some previous financial sessions with Suze Orman and today they continued the interview.
For the record, I do not know either one of them and this is my blog so I can say what I want.
Nadya is not a crazy as people think. She is not as shrewd either. Was she "crazy" to have eight babies put in her? Maybe. Although, if this was a middle class married couple from suburbia we would find them fascinating, wonderful and brave. So Nadya is not emotionally stable? Really? And her mother, her doctor and her sperm donor are???? The doctor should have his license revoked. Shame on people for blaming and losing their shit over children that are already here and born. Maybe she should have killed a few of them? Maybe it would have been better if she aborted them? Who is the public or Suze Orman to make that call?
Suze Orman had valid points. She had sound advice, BUT she did not have the right to make this girl say OUT LOUD 3 TIMES that "had she known now what she knew then she would have made different choices". Really? Well no shit Suze. ME TOO! Anyone? Anyone ever make a mistake or royally screw up? (Well, yeah, but I didn't let a doctor put 8 eggs in my uterus). Oh really? Me neither, but would the public like to reveal what they have done? I don't think so.
So here we are and lets deal with the choices. I refuse to deal with the would haves, should haves, could haves. You cannot change the past. What good does it do this woman to continue to feel regret? She hates herself now as it is. How healthy is that for her children? Encouragement and future "right" decisions are what is needed NOW! Why must we continually kick those already down?
I did not say I agree with her choices, but I agree to her responsibility. Maybe the state will end up with some of the children. Maybe they will have a tough life ahead. How is this different from the thousands that have the same issues? Why? Because this woman is a media spectacle? Suze Orman was the lucky gal who got to throw the stones for the public. Bitch. Shame on you. This isn't how I work. Again, I don't condone what Nadya did or even how she did it. But I would agree to whatever serves the best interest of these children. BTW-if people are mad that Medicaid and Medicare care for these children, using tax dollars, then I say you better agree to any moral means this woman comes up with for making money.

ReplyDeleteTry and catch Oprah's behind the scenes on OWN. Her producers were enraged!!!!! Thought it was way over the top and that she should not pulled what she did on Nadya.... I was even more ticked when I saw that during an after meeting with the producers Oprah thought it was ok and that Suze handled it correctly...I'd still like to get my hands around the neck of the dr who did decided he'd fill her to the brim with babies....
ReplyDeleteok so here's my 2 cents. Octomom is scum of the earth. SHe is bat shit crazy and every one of her 14 kids should be taken away. She is a pathetic loser sucking the life out America. People like her that continue to spit out kids like frigan rabbits that they can't afford disgust me. As far as making money I do not care how she does it as long as working tax paying people don't have to support her litter and a half. SHe was given ALOT of handouts, but with 14 kids there isn't a handout big enough to last that long. I feel very strongly about this and it may seem harsh, but considering I would love to have had 1 or 2 more kids but didn't because I was responsible enough to realize I couldn't afford them...

My point was that nothing can be done about it now, so she either needs to be supported or the children taken. I was pissed because Suze Orman's beating was counterproductive. She wanted to make it clear to Nayda that she is hated, made a selfish crazy ass mistake and better suffer for it. I just don't think that's how Jesus works. Look, I get it, but it's about the kids now so let's move on and stop beating a dead horse. Just sayin'.
ReplyDeleteWish I had seen the interview!! I don't agree with what OctoMom did at all! The Dr was wrong for the procedure, she was wrong for having it done...but that is all in the past now! The world needs to get over it! And Suze Orman had no right to do what she did...but THEY LET HER DO IT!!! Time to move on folks.....'nuff said....
ReplyDeleteWEll I think some of the issue is you cant change the past but now what? I mean, she isnt working, she cant, but she has money to hire people to help her? How? I was grossed out when I heard she spent the kind of money she did at Christmas, that she has manicures, a personal trainer, who is she to think she deserves to have all those things when she cant even provide for these kids herself. She is getting money somehow, and I missed the part on how or where its coming from. Some people do need to be told "where the dog died", is it mean, yes, but sometimes thats what it takes to wake someone up. Can it be done in another way, probably. Im on the fence on this one. I think that if she thought it was ok to get manicures and have a personal trainer etc then she deserves to be beat up just a little.
ReplyDeleteIm not completely up to speed on this. Do we know what her situation was before she got this procedure. Was she a working mom, making good money to support herself and the children she already had? Doesnt it cost alot of money to have that procedure? Who paid for it. Was she prepared for the cost of that "one" extra child. And im sure they talked to her about the possibility of multiples in this situation?
ReplyDeleteAnd your comment about how is this different than any other situation? Yeah how, how does she pay for a house, feed her kids, hire nannies, get manicures, personal trainers? Most of us would be on welfare and losing our houses over just one kid if we couldnt pay our own way?
ReplyDeletemale reader here.....i agree that beating her up for the past doesnt do any good (for her)it may prevent another idiot from repeating the mistakes but a more responsible approach would be to find solutions to the problems she faces. Looking at whats already been done (and bitching about it) does nothing to fix octo's financial problems. I didnt see any of the shows youre talking about but if Orman was supposed to advise financially then that should have been the end of it. leave the berating to the generic interviewer and let Octo spread the word herself about how difficult it is to raise octuplets. I agree with everyone that the Doctor who did this should either loose his license for playing mad scientist or he should foot the bill for raising these kids! AND i believe the American public should stop paying attention to these people. The fame created by it is causing some young girl out there to think she could have 9 or 10 babies at once....

My point about beating her up was on my assumption of her already having financial difficulties before she even got herself into her current situation. But she did have an expensive procedure, she I believe had some plastic surgery. I have no clue, I could be entirely wrong. Maybe she had tons of money, had a great job, and thought one more wouldnt make a huge difference. So my point was that she doesnt seem to learn? Or isnt smart enough to make better decisions? So I guess I have to research what her financial status was before, maybe she did have her shit together, maybe she didnt...

ok so i just read she got a settlement for a back injury while working. Her first 6 kids were invitro too? Some made a good point on one site "how did she carry that many children twice if she had a back injury that warranted getting a settlement of 160,000". I read the rounds of invitro costed 100,000.
